Another water damaged iPhone

Monday 20 April 2009 @ 4:13 am

Here is another comment from a user where Apple claims the phone has been in contact with water:

I purchased an iphone, while it worked it is great, I sent it for repairs, they said it was water damaged, the phone has never been near the water, I purchased the extended warranty, it is not covered, my husband was polite and nice, and wasted over three hours on the phone. so the lesson? DO NOT BUY APPLE, and NEVER BUY THEIR WARRANTIES they cover nothing!!! I will never buy another apple item in my life

Delayed messages on the iPhone

Monday 23 March 2009 @ 2:00 am

This reader reports about delayed messages on the iPhone:

I have HAD IT WITH APPLE!!! I have had all sorts of problems with my iPhone, the most recent being that I’m not receiving most of my texts, calls or voicemails until minutes to hours after they were placed. I spent weeks on the phone trying to troubleshoot with the “Genius” staff at Apple, and that’s the biggest joke I’ve EVER heard. They were USELESS! We have finally determined that it is indeed a problem with the phone itself, but Apple won’t do anything to fix the problem. Instead I’m being told my only option is to buy a new phone. I already foolishly invested $600 in this phone and can’t fathom the thought of blowing more money on the same piece of junk. Don’t get me wrong, there are numerous things I admire in this phone, but the fact that it wasn’t built to last more than a year is ridiculous!!! I’ve never dealt with such piss poor customer service in my life!

Text message privacy on the iPhone

Friday 9 January 2009 @ 4:14 pm

This user reports that her husband found out about her secret party due to the issue that anybody can read new text messages on the iPhone:

I love my iphone. HOWEVER, there are two basic functions that this expensive luxury lacks, that my 8 year-old niece has on her phone. Texting pictures and text message privacy. The first is well documented so I won’t go there, but the second is just plain wrong. I have a password on my phone for a reason. If I wanted every Tom, Dick, and Harry to be privy to my text messages I would turn off the password function. But I don’t! It frosts my cookies that if I put the phone down and walk away, anybody and everybody can read any text message I receive right there on the front page!!! I am so PO’d about this!! My husband found out about his surprise party because of this stupid mistake! I couldn’t even get mad at him when he brought me the phone and said, “you got a text message about my party.” What the heck? This is basic! On my old $30 phone, you had to go through dang near 25 screens to get to text messages. AND IF MY PASSWORD WAS ON YOU COULDN’T GET PAST THE FIRST ONE! Sorry for the yelling, but I am really upset about this. Apple, I need you to do better.

Buy music through Wi-Fi with the iPhone

Tuesday 25 September 2007 @ 6:31 am

Just like in the regular iTunes store you can use your iPhone to buy music. Do do this you will have to setup your existing iTunes music store account on the iPhone. After that you can browse through albums and songs. Like other music store purchases each songs costs 99 cents. Before you buy Apple allows you to listen to 30 seconds of the song to make sure it is the song you want to pay for.

After you have bought the music on the iPhone itself you can synch the music files back to your computer and they are available in iTunes.

The only big complaint I have is that I cannot imagine downloading music over a crappy and slow 2G Internet connection on a phone. This will take forever, I’m telling you!

Apart from the network speed connection the build in speakers sound rather rickety and loud, so it is no fun sharing your music with your friends through the iPhone.

Hacked iPhone on Vodafone network

Monday 17 September 2007 @ 7:21 am

I spotted this image on vowe.net today, supposed to be real and working on the Vodafone network:

iPhone on the vodafone network

If this is true I hope it’s only a matter of time until the locking to AT&T is taken completely off the iPhone.

Here is another unlock software for the iPhone.

Getting started

Wednesday 12 September 2007 @ 6:45 am

When the iPhone was first rumored last year we all thought, wow Apple is introducing a phone? That must be THE gadget to have for 2007!
Now as it is available in the US and will be available in the fall in Europe as well more doubts and concerns are coming up regarding the iPhone.
Major reviewers like Jack Gold from Computerworld have their doubts regarding the iPhone.

Will this expensive little peice of joy live up to its expectations? How does the price drop on the 8 GB model and the total dropping of the 4 GB influence the sales and marketing of the iPhone?
We will adress all these issues and the iPhone complaints in this blog, if you have anything to add submit your iPhone complaint.
