This iPhone customer dropped his phone in the water but Apple / AT&T did not offer any discount on a new phone:
It was my fault, I dropped my iPone in the water. Short story, it’s history. It was my mistake. Could I purchase a new phone at the 2 year commitment price? No way, no how, not here. So much for “Customer Service.” That was my last purchase from Apple or AT&T.
This user reported about a lost data connection on the iPhone which makes the GPS useless, especially when you are one hour away from home and don’t have a clue where you are heading:
I’ve had my iphone for about 4 months now. While there are many things I really dislike about the iphone, I’ve kept quiet since the pros have outweighed the cons. Not until today… After driving for about an hour going to an address I bookmarked in the GPS, my phone decided to drop signal. About 5 mins later it recovered signal, but without a data connection. GPS on the iphone is worthless without a data connection. So I decided to reboot the phone in hopes of getting the data connection back. Upon reboot, the phone decided I was no longer authorized to use it and needed to re-link via itunes.. f**king itunes… I’m an hour away from home without the address I’m going to and without the ability to make a phone call - except to 911. So what now? See if I have any quarters and look for a payphone? Never needed to do that over 3+ years using a smartphone.
Do I now need to keep a back-up phone in case the iphone decides to re-lock itself again? WTF. Apple needs to get their act together. Unfortunately, the buzz around the iphone is so big, I think they will continue to get away with unnecessarily crippled hardware and shoddy firmware. Before I purchased my iphone, I thought Apple had a reputation of having rock solid operating systems and being more open-minded than MS. Their geniuses at marketing, no doubt. Fooled me. Truth is Microsoft’s Windows Mobile OS is way more solid and they don’t purposely crippled hardware all in the name of DRM and whatever other reasons…
Having a cell phone lock itself up for no reason is 100% unacceptable. I am now one seriously po’ed Apple customer.

This user complains about his collection of Shazam tags which has been deleted from the iPhone after the 2.2 upgrade:
THANKS apple for RUINING the best application available: SHAZAM. After the much touted “upgrade” 2.2 all the song tags have been deleted and the program no longer works. I was just sitting down to order the tagged songs for a present and the entire fu*cking list is gone MERRY CHRISTMAS. ITUNES has seen my last dollar…I will now order all my music from Amazon no matter how expensive or inconvenient it may be and you can be sure I’ll post and blog the hell out of this
Please note that it seems like there is a new version of Shazam available.
This user is missing some basic features on the iPhone, most important for him: text messages with pictures.
I thought the iPhone was the greatest thing since sliced bread until I discovered I can no longer get photos of my granddaughters through messaging. I can not attach files to a text message come on apple this is basic technology. You have forgotten the basics and left iphone users put of the loop with with the rest of the worlds cell phone users. What good does it do us to have all the higher end technology if we can not have goof communications with our friends and family. I guess I will look at a blackberry if apple can’t get this fixed. I was so excited about the iPhone I forgot to check out the basics didn’t think apple would forget them.
This major complaint mainly focusses on coverage problems of AT&T in the area of Flushing, NY and the rather strict contracts regarding the switiching of plans or termination:
I purchased an iphone 3G from AT&T wireless service last July 2008 with an unlimited plan of $99 dollars plus data plan unlimited internet service of $30 dollars totalling to $130 dollars plus tax. First 10 days of having the service, I already had problems with this phone. No signal in my area (Flushing NY), the phone could not get any signal, no wireless internet too. I called them right away to cancel the service and they told me to wait for few days and they will fix the signal in the area. I had the iphone checked too and they told me that there was a problem with the released version of iphone and they made me update the software. My phone still has no signal. After 30 days has passed and I still wanted to cancel the service, they told me that I have to pay for termination fee already because 30 days has passed. Now I’m stuck with the phone and the lousy service signal.I have called AT&T numerous times and they made me go to Apple Store to have it checked/replaced. The first time I went to Apple store, they told me that there was nothing wrong with the iphone and that I will have to just turn the 3G off since the 3G antennas of AT&T are still under construction and does not have good signal so might as well use the regular “Edge” signal. The phone still has no signal at my house but has signal on my work (NYC). I could use the phone only outside my house for few hours but it gets “no service” most of the time. Because I’m paying unlimited service (almost $150 dollars/month) and I only use it 1-2 hours/day when I’m outside the house in a very good signal area, I still went on to complain about not having signal much and they made me go yesterday to an apple store telling me that there is water damage, is not repairable and that all they can do is replace the phone but I will have to pay another $500 dollars for the iphone.I called AT&T again today and they offered me a phone replacement ($35 dollar phone) but I have to pay for the phone, and they cannot change my plan–which is with 30 dollar data plan plus $99 dollar rate plan because it come with my contract. I think this is ridiculous paying internet data plan if I cannot use it on any other phone other than iphone and it is way too unfair for me. Eversince I had the phone, I’ve been having problems with it and I’ve been paying $150 dollar a month for nothing. I wanted to stop the service but they want me to pay for $150 dollar termination fee plus my bill. All I want is have a very good service and I regret getting a service from AT&T and having iphone 3G. It is too ridiculous paying $150 dollar termination fee and a bill monthly of another $150 dollar if I cannot use it. Highway robbers! AT&T and Apple companies should be burned! Yeah, Lay-off more workers cause you have just lost thousands of clients and more to lose!!^*)*#$^&$!

Here is a complaint from a user that mentioned the cripple Bluetooth functionality on the Apple iPhone:
i have had the iphone for some time now and i have reached the end of my tether,
not only is this so out dated by the sheer lack of the simplest of functions(bluetooth is only used for headset,no picture messaging, cannot recieve any media from another phone without access to a computer to view it),on top of all this the sevice is really bad. this phone is constantly losing signal,i wish i had stayed where i was(18 month contract as well).
somthing should be done about this.
So I guess being a tech junkie, who has to have the latest and greatest, has its down side. Specifically the iPhone. As so many other people have complained about, no cut and paste, no video, GPS lacks turn by turn navigation, 1.3megapix camera, really WTF with that one. Speaking of cameras, no flash, zoom, or controls of any nature to speak of. No MMS, can’t attach files to an email. Dedicated send and end keys would be a plus. Why, oh why, did I ever jump ship from Blackberry. RIM send me a life boat!
