iPhone is good, except for the phone

Sunday 11 October 2009 @ 11:16 pm

This user does not like the phone functions in the iPhone:

iPhone is good in everything else, except the phone itself.

I love the various functions that iPhone provide to us:
simple GPS (with maps), You Tubes, stock charts (although it’s delayed for 10 to 15 minutes), and emails I can read anytime, …

However, the phone is terrible:
I cannot hear the voice, and the other party (during talking) cannot hear me (lots of noise too).
That is why 4 months after I bought my iPhone, I’m still holding my previous cel phone (I’m paying 2 cel phones!)
iPhone is terrible.

Frustrated AT&T / iPhone user

Saturday 10 October 2009 @ 11:12 pm

A general roundup of frustration with the iPhone and AT&T:

IPhone does not ring, goes to sleep. Keyboard is slow to come up for texting. Voice mail does not work correctly. ATT Call Center does not know what the ATT Store is doing and vice versa. Came out with new phone after two weeks after ATT agent said no new phones. Had to pay an exchange fee. Got newest version of IPhone and had problems, when it would be $9.95 exchange fee to replace and Apple charged $629 to credit card without permission. ATT and Apple is not moving very quick to replace telephone with one that works correctly.

Iphone notification frustration

Friday 9 October 2009 @ 11:10 pm

This user files an iPhone complaint regarding the silence mode and the notification sounds

I have always been a fan of apple products but my recent purchase of the iPhone has led me to believe that there is such a thing as over-thinking technology. It has come to my attention that the iPhone is not 100% silent when you turn the “Silent” switch on. If you have an alarm set, that alarm will go off even in silent mode. First of all, if you have a switch that is suppost to turn your phone silent, it should work. Its extremely inconvienent if you are in class or a meeting for their phone to go off. With million of things an iPhone can do, this is a very basic function that should be executable.
To compensate for this lack in basic feature, I tried setting an alarm through the Calendar function as an event. But once again, the calendar lacks the basic ability to change the sound and duration of the notification for an event. So if you do want the alarm to go off, its a tiny little “blip” noise that doesn’t do too much for notifying you.
I find this all very ironic since there is an application for just about everything and the iPhone is suppost to “enable” the user in just aboute every possible way.

Thursday 8 October 2009 @ 11:48 pm

The iPhone cannot control the volume of music and calls individually causing this user to miss calls:

Every time i turn the volume down on my iphone whilst I’m listening to music it seems to turn the volume down on the actual phone, so when people call me I can never hear it ringing…
It seems strange that you don’t have an option to just set the ring volume and an option to control the music/podcast volume separately.

I’ve missed so many calls because of this stupid little annoyance.

Phone suddenly dims the screen

Thursday 8 October 2009 @ 11:45 pm

The iPhone seems to auto-dim the screen:

Several times a day, sometimes 4 or more times, when I recieve an incoming call and when I go to answer the incoming call, the phone goes so dim that you cannot see who is calling. This does not happen all the time just several times a day

AT&T does not have to give great service

Thursday 8 October 2009 @ 11:43 pm

Ongoing frustration is reported by this user:

Dropped calls, no customer service. I have made tons of complaints and was told finally that I should read the contract. AT&T does not have to give great service.

Changing the notify sounds on the iPhone

Thursday 8 October 2009 @ 11:10 pm

Here comes a user complaing regarding the change of the notify sounds for sms and email:

Can’t stand the fact that Apple won’t let you change the notify sounds for txts and email but especially that you can’t set either to vibrate unless the whole phone is on silent

iPhone reference to a mule

Nice quote:

I think the iphone is great. Problem is coverage. It’s like having a Porsche that’s puled around by a mule.
