This iPhone 3G user reports some serrious problems he has with his iPhone in the downtown Minneapolis areas:

I have had huge coverage problems with my iPhone. I live in a prime AT&T coverage area near downtown Minneapolis. The iPhone gets lousy reception in my home! Apple recently upgraded the iPhone software to supposedly solve reception problems, and the AT&T signal bars now indicate the phone receives the highest possible signal in my home. The only problem is, when I receive or make calls the calls invariably drop-out! I can’t begin to say how frustrating that is!!! I could kick myself for buying this piece of crap and can’t wait until the contract expires so I can dump and phone and go back to Sprint. I hate the iPhone 3G!!!!
