A very lenghty iPhone complaint around a frozen screen on the iPhone
I bought an iPhone in around one month ago. In the first week of using it, I noticed the screen was frozen so often. I took it back to an AT&T store. They re-installed the firmware, and the problem seemed solved, and I appreciated it.Today, I found another problem: my phone automatically dialed out to my friend at 7:30 a.m. Two other friends complained to me about a similar problem before. I was sure I did not accidently touch the screen and caused the problem in today’s morning.
I went to an AT&T store at my lunch time. They referred me to go an Apple store. I was at the Apple store at Stonestown, San Francisco on October 14, 2009, at around 2:00 p.m.
The service there was extremely poor. They just wanted me to leave:
1. At the beginning, they claimed they had to upgrade the firmware. They “really” wanted to help me to do it, “but” I had to go home to backup the data first!
2. However, when I said I did not care about my data — I just would not want my friends getting phone calls from me at midnight – they said it again: They “really” wanted to help me to do it, “but” I had to install iTune first!
3. If iTune is so important, why iPhone did not come with it? I told the representative that I would not care what software they were going to install in my phone. I just wanted to get it fixed. Then she changed her tone and said I had to make an appointment. The earlier available appointment would be after 6 p.m. on that day.
4. I explained to her that the phone got various problems within one month. It was not a user problem, and I had already spent so much time running around to deal with it. I asked whether they could take my phone and fix it for me. This, of course, just wasted my time!
I asked to talk to the store manager. His attitude was even worse. He said, under the Apple iPhone agreement, the store would help the users to neither install iTune nor upgrade firmware. If I did not know how to do these tasks, they would not even look at my phone. I felt I was talking with an attorney! In the past, I was impressed with Apple about their Plug-and-Play strategies. I am so disappointed that Apple behaved like this nowadays. I would also urge all users to read the agreement very carefully!
This reader tells us about his phone that neede to be returned after only 32 day of usage:
32 days ago purchased a new iphone 3gs from at&t. This unit has completely shut down twice, requiring the hard start. I spoke with support staff and initially was e-mailed instructions of backing up and upgrading which were extremely difficult to follow. I was unable to proceed and recently had another shut down episode. I called again and was told to down load itunes. This not only took a long time but eventually led to the phone needing to be re-store to its original settings, essentially wiping out all other imput such as phone number. I am an attorney. All your staff did to alleviate that problem to apologize and ask me if I still the old Blakberry so that I could try and transfer the numbers again.
What a joke.
I need to return this phone which obviously has problems and is only 32 days old and be sent a new one.
This is a rather large expense which you should warrant for and provide a means for us to get releif.
Did someone have the same trouble:
I Purchased a 3GS in August, which had to be replaced last week due to being unstable. I received my replacement handset yesterday to find that I have lost photos and over $60 worth of itunes purchases. I would appreciate if the itunes purchases can be replaced or that I be sent some vouchers for itunes in order to replace the lost music as it was not my fault that the handset required replacing.
Some email truble with a Yahoo account and the iPhone
I receive google alerts sent to my Yahoo acct. When I try to open them on my iphone it says “this message has no content.” Any ideas??? Only the messages from google get this message. Other messages that are from persons show up fine. The content of the google messages are fine in my yahoo acct. I have deleted the acct off of my iphone, reset my password on yahoo and restarted my iphone to no avail. Thanks
Here is some trouble from Hawaii:
My iphone never has service and when it does, only for short periods. My calls are dropped and wifi is impossible here for some reason! I love my iphone but drop at&t and get verison for all of us on HI. Mahalo
A problem with text messages after an OS update:
After installing update for the new operating system. i can not send text message normally and as fast. right at this moment i am trying to send a text to only 3 peoples and it is stilling. this happened after multiple try to resend.
Sad and shame on ATT.
This reader complains that whomever he is calling can hear the notification the iPhone sends:
Whomever I’m on the phone with can hear all of my alerts: call waiting, texts, voicemail, low battery, etc. This bugs the hell out of me and sounds completely unprofessional in the case of business calls. Besides, it’s an invasion of privacy (it often leads to nosier people asking who’s calling or texting or what-not).
This water damage case really looks like a pattern:
Received the iphone as a gift in December and admitedly got it wet in January. Had to pay $199 for new one, which has given me problems since day one. Brought it to Mac “Genius” who claimed I got it wet, which I definitely did not!!
Here comes once more, some water damage iPhone complaint:
Bought an iphone in may ‘09. the screen went black. AT&T says it was due to water damage, but we are sure there wasn’t any water damage.
This user is fed up and wants a refund:
I was told ther would be an upgrade by the end of August so I could text photos. It still is not available and it is September folks. Camera function is really crappy and video is poor also. Apple really screwed us with this iphone media blitz. Glad Steve got his new liver, at least I feel like I have contributed toward something worth while. When he gets to feeling better, may be he can come back and fix this piece of crap his company sole me.A FULL REFUND would be the right thing to do.
